Our House Sydney is a collective movement to promote and support house and underground disco in intimate, friendly and personal environments throughout Sydney .

This house sound encompasses everything from deep, organic, jazzy, soulful, gospel, latin, and african tipped house music.

This vision is carried out by holding regular parties that bring people together, and creating a party vibe that leaves pretentious attitudes aside and embraces joy, happiness and respect. Having a great time with great music!

Our passion for this sound is heavily influenced by house music’s roots, which evolved from New York ’s disco scene in the late 70’s. Inspiration is also drawn from the DJ’s and producers who have helped develop this sound. Figures such as Frankie Knuckles, Kerri Chandler, Marshall Jefferson, Ron Trent, Norman Jay, Joey Negro, Danny Krivit, Kenny Dixon Jr, Theo Parrish, Larry Heard and Masters At Work.

Together we can continue the evolution of this beautiful sound, and help it to flourish in Sydney like never before. The possibilities are endless.

Our second podcast is a trip through some of the cornerstone production moments in House music put together by one of the undeniable monarchs of Electronic music in Sydney, DJ Mark Murphy. The man is a DJ’s DJ who has been making his name playing everything from Acid House, Electro, Disco, Techno & Chicago House for as long as I can remember in this town.

This mix was originally promo he put together for a Chicago House music night called “JACK”, which he co-presented by with DJ Magda. It is a journey through some classic releases that shaped the HOUSE & TECHNO sounds from an era where those cats at Trax Records were working hard to put out some of the classic analogue acid cuts on recycled vinyl and Frankie was the man dropping legendry spiritual lessons on dancefloors.

If you’ve been to any of Australia’s electronic music institutions like Mad Racket (Sydney), Frigid (Sydney) or Toast (ACT) in recent years, you’ll have no doubt come across the thumping, soulful blend of house and wonky electronics that is Alphatown live.Alphatown have played alongside such world class artists as Derrick May, Mr C and Ben Sims, at the Big Day Out and as residents at the infamous ‘Tech-Ni-Kal’ nights at Sydney’s Chinese Laundry. Not to mention many, many gigs (big and small) with Sydney’s best: people like the Mad Racket crew, Future Classic, Hi-Jinks, Biz E, Lorna, Mako, Meem, Motech and all the others whose support and encouragement have been vital ingredients in the band’s success. The Alphatown boys have spent most of the winter locked away in the studio, and as always have a whole new swag of material that they’re positively itching to unleash on receptive ears.Live act Alphatown brought the booty shakin’ to a dangerous level!
